Gold Holdings Summary

How the calculation works

• Each holding line is valued independently first: current value = quantity × unit-to-ounce factor × live spot price per ounce × exchange rate; purchase value = quantity × purchase price per unit.
• Combined totals are simple sums across all lines: total purchase value is the sum of every line’s purchase value, total current value is the sum of every line’s current value, and total gain or loss is total current value minus total purchase value.
• The combined percentage is total gain or loss ÷ total purchase value × 100. It is a value-weighted result, so larger holdings influence it more than smaller ones.
• Total weight is the sum of every line’s weight converted to ounces, then shown in grams, kilograms and tolas as well.
• Worked example (assumed prices, not live): 1 oz bought at $2,000/oz plus 2 oz bought at $2,100/oz gives a total purchase value of $6,200.00; at a current $2,500/oz the combined current value is $7,500.00, a gain of $1,300.00 (+20.97%).
