Frequently Asked Questions
How is the price per troy ounce calculated?
From the live XAU spot price per troy ounce: one troy ounce equals 31.1034768 grams, so the per-gram price is the ounce price divided by 31.1034768, and the per-kilogram price is the per-gram price multiplied by 1000.
Are these local jeweller prices?
No. These are international spot equivalents converted at market exchange rates. Local shop prices add making charges, premiums, taxes and dealer margins.
Why does the converted price change when I switch currency?
Because the conversion uses the current market exchange rate for that currency against the US dollar. Exchange rates move daily, so the converted figure moves even when the dollar gold price is unchanged.
Methodology note
All figures derive from a single live XAU spot quote: per-gram = per-ounce / 31.1034768; per-kilogram = per-gram x 1000; per-tola = per-gram x 11.6638038; purity = karat / 24 applied once. Currency conversions use market exchange rates (USD base) and are international spot equivalents, not shop prices. Full details: Data Sources & Methodology.
