How the calculation works
- Metal value = weight in grams × live 24K price per gram × (karat ÷ 24) × exchange rate. The purity factor is applied exactly once.
- Total jewellery value = metal value + making charges.
- Worked example (assumed price, not live): 10 g of 22K gold at $120.00/g with $100.00 making charges: metal value 10 × 120 × 22/24 = $1,100.00; total $1,200.00.
